KRTC 5: President's aide arrested
According to Chinese-language news reports, 陳哲男 Chen Che-nan, a senior ex-advisor to ROC President 陳水扁 Chen Shui-bian who I’ve previously blogged on, has been finally arrested, 5 months after he was forced to step down. Bail has been denied, as Chen has a habit of taking secret trips out of the country. This may finally be sign of law enforcement finally showing some backbone and not bending to the substantial pressure the president has brought to bear on those that would tarnish his image.
Chen and the DPP have been dogged by the repeated corruption scandals coming out of the MRT system in 高雄 Kaohsiung (Gaoxiong), and took a pounding from the KMT in the December 2005 legislative elections as a result. The clean image of the DPP has been revealed as inexperience rather than any special commitment to clean government, and the party has yet find a way to stop its slide.

Great site for news about Taiwan. I totally concur on Bevin Chu. Although I tend to believe his emphasis on the ROC's rule of mainland China detracts from his otherwise illuminating info, his prolific writings and common sense is rare in English-languaged sources.
I'm mostly writing about China on my blog, and I haven't updated for a month or so. However, I'm gaining more fascination for KMT since my job (CSIS) hosted Ma Ying-jeou in DC a few weeks back.
One final note. I'd love to see some of Li Ao's writings in English and him being invited to more exposure here among US policy makers. Maybe I'm naive, but Li's grasp of history, arts and his impeccable integrity makes him a giant in mankind, a renaissance man unparalled not just in China, but the world. I suppose outsiders easily dismiss him because of his pompasity, but over 100 books, Nobel-nominations for fiction, and 6 years imprisonment for political beliefs: who can claim more? Mandela spent 30 years, but wrote how many books? Our great authors today write many books, but how many are icons in politics? Shockingly underexposed. This is why in the West, ROC is always, as you've titled, the forgotten side.
By the way, I'm very interested if the Nationalists have any similar organizational counterpart to FAPA, who wield increasingly strong influence in US policy. People like me, Mr. Chu and you can help better inform US of 'the other side'.
What a change from the blind adulation of Chen Shui-bian this small cottage-industry of pro-DPP bloggers has been displaying, whatever the facts, in other words, the rotteness of TI cause. With Chen Che-nan's indictment, the putrescence is getting closer and closer on Ah-bian and the "Empress" (皇帝娘娘). This indictment, as well as the quick resignation of Grand Justice Cheng Chung-mo (aka Ai Tso Mei 愛作媒) -- (「城仲模『愛作媒』也出了名，至今撮合的佳偶超過50對；他作媒不收媒人紅包，反贈送新人『五個千萬(金玉良言)』大紅包，並親自傳授新人生男生女祕 方，令人津津樂道。」in 陳永富,「不老城仲模、老來遇桃花」,《聯合晚報》,民國九十五年四月六日) -- also expose the links between the Lee Teng-hui's Black Gold era and the Chen Shui-bian's Green Gold reign, or what Cheng Li-wen 鄭麗文 (KMT Spokesperson and former DPP legislator) so eloquentlty formulated 「從美麗島到濟州島」last November. Last but not least, the Sogo coupons might look petty unless one remembers this: "Rumors" said Ms. Chung Chin (鍾琴), an early Bian appointee, owed her position as Pacific Sogo Department Stores chairwoman, in spite of her total lack of experience regarding retail business, thanks to Bian Lady in 2003.

Li Ao is a gay loser that have to hire people to kiss its own ass. That is pretty much the standard KMT way.
ROC is a money pit that cost US tons of money, and we got nothing in return. It's more like a spit in US face for wasting so much money on these losers that can't even win a simple Chinese war.
Speaking of Chinese, if I was a pure Chinese, I still spit in your gay face and kick your fucking Li Ao Hua loser arses out of China. Haha.... Hua homo!!
