DPP distractions continue
Oh how my own words have come back to haunt me...
"(Kaohsiung)'s the modern metropolis, without a nasty KMT opposition in the legislature to put all the blame on."
I thought that the DPP would squirm but in the end face accountability for the crisis in Kaosiung, if for no no reason other than there is no else one left to blame - it's a Green city. Boy was I wrong on that one...there was a KMT mayor 6 years ago...let's blame him!
On the 8th ,謝長廷 Frank Hsieh, current Premier and previous mayor of the city, went on TV. He helpfully told everyone to focus on the original guidelines and decision to build the MRT, which were made years ago under the previous mayor. Apparently Frank is suffering the strange delusional fever that seems to break out regularly when the DPP is in the President's office. The Taipei Times immediately rushed to paint the host of the TV as being biased and unprofessional for asking the 'wrong' questions.
According to Chinese language reports and television, the DPP put out half-page ads in every major Chinese-language newspaper in Taiwan yesterday. These ads glowingly describe all that Frank Hsieh has done for Kaohsiang, while placing the blame for Kaohsiung's recent MRT worker's riots on 吳敦義 Wu Den-yih , the previous mayor of the city.
My previous post also made an unsubstantiated statement that the construction company is DPP connected. Apparently the 中鋼 China Steel Corp chairman is appointed by the government, and the previous KMT-connected chairman was controversially replaced in 2001. That one was so blatantly partisan, even Forbes noticed.
The DPP is in such a bind that Frank wants us to believe that he is incompetent and let the MRT project run itself for eight years. Anything is better than better than taking responsibility, even if it's what your party claims to stand for, right?
